AMC, Cinemark & Regal Movie Theaters Ending Mask Requirement For Fully Vaccinated Customers – The Shade Room
#Roommates, it’s been well over a year since movie-goers were actively able to sit inside theaters without wearing a mask to stop the spread of COVID-19—but now three of the largest movie chains in the country are bringing that requirement to an end. According to reports, AMC, Cinemark and Regal movie theaters have all decided to officially end the requirement for wearing a mask for all those who are fully vaccinated.
The highly profitable summer movie season officially kicked off on Memorial Day and in response, a collection of top movie chains have recently made a decision sure to make customers happy, as the country continues its ongoing process of gradually opening back up. reports, AMC, Cinemark and Regal movie theaters recently confirmed that all customers who are fully vaccinated will not be required to wear a mask while inside theaters, instead it will be optional.
However, for those who have not yet taken the vaccine, masks are still “strongly encouraged” and can only be removed while eating or drinking in the theater. Although the requirements have changed for customers, they remain the same for employees—who are still required to wear a mask at all times while working whether they are vaccinated or not. Additionally, other COVID-19 restrictions and safety precautions will remain in place, including social distancing, reduced capacity inside theaters and enhanced sanitizing protocols.
In an official statement addressing the updated requirements, AMC said the following:
“Consistent with the latest CDC guidance and following consultation with public health experts, AMC Theatres guests who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear face coverings at AMC locations, unless it is mandated by state or local ordinances. Guests who are not fully vaccinated are asked to continue wearing masks. All other aspects of the AMC Safe & Clean policies and procedures, including seat blocking, remain in place at this time.”
This decision by AMC, Cinemark and Regal is the latest in a string of national companies and retailers that have also decided to drop mask mandates for the fully vaccinated, which began when the CDC updated its guidelines last month.
