Disney Breaks Down Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Resort Poster Details
Disney takes the time to break down the imagery on their latest piece of promotional material for the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Disney has broken down the significance behind its newly unveiled poster for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. The one-of-a-kind hotel/attraction has been under construction for some time now, with the most recent update on its progress coming almost a year ago. As things currently stand, the Galactic Starcruiser – officially known as the Halcyon, is set to open to the public in 2022 and is sure to impress.
Previous information on the Halcyon has revealed that a booking at the hotel involves a two-day getaway in space, with a stop at the port city of Batuu, located in Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge attraction. While this in itself might sound impressive to some Star Wars fans, the real treats lie in the Halcyon itself, which is intended to recreate the feeling of actually leaving Earth and soaring through a galaxy far, far away. Sweeping views of space are afforded from the Halcyon’s numerous windows and these views change as the journey progresses, giving guests the chance to gaze out on the cosmos. The vessel is also populated by a host of Star Wars characters, the likes of which freely interact with guests.
In its most recent effort to help further stoke excitement over the upcoming arrival of the Galactic Starcruiser Resort, Disney has provided a brand new poster promoting the attraction, as well as breaking down everything that’s going on in the poster’s imagery. The end result is a fascinating look at what’s to come for the Galactic Starcruiser Resort and how its immersive environment gives Star Wars fans the adventure of a lifetime. - The Halcyon starcruiser, in the upper-left corner, is your home for this two-night adventure. The sleek ship is known for its impeccable service, fabulous entertainment and exquisite dining, all of which you’ll get to enjoy during your vacation. (Side note: You can see a model of the ship right now in Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.)
- There are four people at the center of the poster – a youngling wearing Jedi robes and wielding a lightsaber, an adult dressed in the uniform of a First Order officer, a Twi’lek adult, and another youngling who appears to be holding a piece of technology of some sort. These figures are meant to represent you, the travelers, because Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is about your choices and how you live your personal Star Wars Do you want to support the First Order? Live like a Jedi in training? Or perhaps become a member of high galactic society? It’s all waiting there for you to discover and decide.
There’s no question that Disney has something truly special on the way with this resort. At present, the space cruise is only available at the Florida park, but its success will likely eventually influence a similar experience at the California park. For now, at least, the idea of being able to live like a Jedi in training on a Star Wars-themed space cruise is more than enticing enough to bring fans to Walt Disney World Resort in droves – regardless of their geographical proximity to the Florida attractions.
With Disney already proving that its Galaxy’s Edge attraction is a huge draw for Star Wars fans, there’s likely to be a similar reaction to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Of course, if the previously rumored $3,000 price tag for the two-day space escape is remotely accurate, many Star Wars fans will be left out in the cold. It’s hard to say how accessible the resort is going to be for those on a budget, but a high cost is a definite possibility.
