38-year-old man dies in hospital after suffering severe burns in apartment fire | CBC News



A 38-year-old London man has died in hospital after suffering severe injuries in an apartment fire in the city’s north end on Monday.

Emergency crews were called to a fire at an apartment at 756 Kipps Lane at about 4:40 p.m. Monday. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and police attended the scene to investigate the cause.

A 38-year-old man who lived in the apartment suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he remained in critical condition. On Wednesday, police said the man died in hospital.

“The joint investigation is ongoing, however, the fire is believed to have started by accident, and the circumstances surrounding its origin are no longer considered to be suspicious,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

The name of the deceased is not being released at the request of family.
